One in five employees is currently caring for another adult, and this number is expected to rise dramatically over the next six years as more than 4 million Americans reach age 65 each year. Caregivers can experience significant increases in stress, anxiety and depression during this difficult time. Furthermore, increased absences, decreased work output and attrition due to lack of employer support has been the norm. Both workers and workplaces are impacted due to adult caregiving responsibilities, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Let’s have a conversation about how workplaces can care for their caregivers now and into the future.
